About Our Children's Ministry

Our ministry with children builds upon the foundation that nurturing faith is a lifelong process, more than one moment or one event.

• We believe that God intends childhood to be the wonder-filled beginning of a lifelong faith journey.
• While faith formation can be described as a series of interconnected events, we focus on the whole, rather than only on one part or event.
• We believe that faith formation is wholistic, always moving and experiential in nature.
• We believe that faith is learned in the context of relationships. Our role as the community of faith is to show our children that they are created in God’s image. We are a child-affirming place for we seek to give children the gifts of acceptance and belonging.

The mission of our Children’s Ministry is to inspire, create and foster a nurturing environment of discovery, wonder and worth in faith formation for God’s children and their families. As we strive to fulfill our mission, we believe that the following characteristics will signify that our children are being inspired and nurtured to grow in their faith:

• Trusting in a personal God, developing an awareness and confidence in God’s love and power.
• Understanding grace and living in grace.
• Communing with God regularly.
• Having a hopeful and positive outlook and encouraging a positive self-image.
• Demonstrating unprejudiced and loving lives.
• Engaging in mission and service and encouraging the ability to function as a member of a larger group.
• Participating in the rituals of a Christian Community.
• Accepting responsibility in a congregation.
